SCOPE OF PRACTICE

WHAT IS ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY?

Orthopedic Surgery is the field of medicine dealing with the diagnosis and treatment (both surgical and non-surgical) of diseases and injuries to bones, muscles, joints, tendons, and ligaments.

These structures taken together form the musculoskeletal system. Besides trauma and fractures, orthopedic care includes spinal (back) problems, arthritis, hand surgery, foot surgery, industrial injuries, and sports medicine.

Several specialized surgical techniques such as arthroscopic surgery and total joint replacement are sometimes required to treat these problems. Because of the size and the varied interests of our members, we will almost always have a physician with the specific training and experience to treat your orthopedic problem.
